Collecting Pop Tabs:
Ronald McDonald house provides a great service to the community by offsetting the housing cost for families whose students are receiving treatment at area children’s hospitals. The average cost of a stay for a family at Ronald McDonald House is $20 and that include room and board. They provide a home away from home for families who are dealing with difficult situations. We can assist them in their mission by collecting pop tabs- the tops off of your soda cans. Please start collecting tabs at your house and at your churches. You can send them into to the ICS High School office and at the end of the year, we will collect them all, take them to the recycling center where they are weighed to determine their value. One pound of tabs is worth 57 cents, and one gallon of pop tabs (4,175 tabs) is worth $1.49. We will donate the proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House of Orlando
PSAT Testing: The PSAT will be offered on Wednesday, October 15th. The cost to take the test is $18. The test is open to all 10th and 11th grade students. Senior Trip:
It is not too late to sign up for the senior class trip. They have graciously allowed me to open enrollment up again for any students who may be interested. We will be flying to Rome in April, then taking the train to Paris and finally boarding the Chunnel train to finish up in London. Registration packets were put into student files of any student who has not registered yet.
Parent Partnering:
If you have not had a chance to sign up for your parent partner days and the high school event you will help with this year, please come in to see Mrs. Hogue or call her at her extension, 128. We really do appreciate the service that you provide when you are here. If we do not hear from you, we will call you to get your availability.
Recycling - We are collecting CRUSHED soda cans at the high school. We have decided that this is one way that we can earn money to support ICS students going on missions trips throughout the year. Those who would like to participate can bring bagged, rinsed, and crushed soda cans to Miss Baker for collection. ICS will take the cans to the recycling center for payment. Funds received will be put into a general fund for all ICS students who do missions work. You can send in the cans at any time!
Technology Needed - In looking towards 2008-2009, there are many things we would like to do to supplement the education of ICS high school students. We are in need of some serious technology upgrades. Miss Baker is currently developing a needs analysis and is researching grants for technology. We would like to purchase a class set of Macbooks for the computer class for next year at the expense of $27,000. If you know of any companies locally that provide grant money, would you please inform Miss Baker so that she can work on grant applications and start the grant writing process. If your company is looking for a tax write off, always keep us in mind as we are a 501-C3 organization.
